How to use this routine

Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid and Gluconolactone are separate materials. This routine does not require all three. Confirm one exact INCI in a home-use finished product and start one evening weekly. Gentle describes the introduction strategy, not a guarantee of zero irritation. Professional peels, rinse-off products and multi-acid formulas need their own finished-product assessment.

Why this structure?

One acid evening followed by several basic moisturizing evenings gives delayed dryness time to appear. Retinol, Retinal, Salicylic Acid, scrubs and a second AHA or PHA stay out of the week during introduction. Broad-spectrum sunscreen remains consistent because FDA guidance warns about AHA-related sun sensitivity.

Who may find this useful?

  • First-time home-acid users
  • People who want to test one acid at a time
  • People with stable moisturizer and sunscreen use

Weekly schedule

Monday
Use the one selected home acid.
Tuesday to Thursday
Use cleanser and moisturizer while watching for delayed dryness.
Friday to Sunday
Keep the basic routine; do not add another acid to catch up.

How to track reactions

  • Record the exact acid, product format, date and contact time.
  • Check tightness, shine, burning and peeling the next day and on day three.
  • Count acids in cleansers, toners and other serums.
  • Do not use peeling intensity as an efficacy score.

Main precautions

  • Do not use two or three acids on the same evening.
  • Do not imitate professional-peel concentrations.
  • Delay use on sunburned, broken or actively red skin.
  • Stop for persistent burning, swelling, cracking or widespread peeling.

How to adjust

  • Sensitive or dry skin may extend the interval to every 10 to 14 days.
  • Treat a multi-acid finished formula as the only acid step.
  • Return to once weekly when changing acid identity.
  • A comfortable once-weekly schedule can remain the long-term schedule.

Next step

What changes after four weeks?

After four comfortable non-consecutive uses, consider a second evening for the same product only. Keep at least two basic evenings between uses. A switch to another acid is a new introduction and returns to once weekly.
